Quick Note

Just a quick note to mention that in less than 2 weeks (11 days, actually), I will have already started the 2011 3 Day walk. And I’m getting nervous. And I can’t understand why.

My fundraising is done, so I’m not nervous about that. And while I haven’t been training with the zeal and panic based fervor I did last time, I feel pretty confident in my ability to do the miles. I know where camp is, and this time around, I also realize that I can have my family bring me things if I forget them. I have a tent to myself, and the person in the tent next to me is a good friend. I have someone to walk with and talk with.

Perhaps there is some bit of nerves that everything that needs to will get done. The packing, the scheduling, the general life-ing that needs to happen both before I go and be accounted for while I am indisposed. When push comes to shove though, I know it will get done and all will be well.

Maybe, just maybe, this feeling isn’t really nervousness but excitement because of what I get to do in 11 days. And there is so plenty to be excited about!

I know how you feel! I am nervous, too. Even though this is my 4th walk…Maybe it is excitement. I am flying in from New Haven, CT. What is the weather usually like at the end of October? I need to figure out what to pack and keep it light.

Maybe we will run into each other. Nice to meet you here.

Last time, the weather varied from warm (around 70) to cold, windy and rainy (around 40). Layers are your friend… but remember that camp is indoors, so you don’t have to worry too much about that.

Thank you! I am definitely packing layers. It is my first trip to Atlanta, even though I lived in Tennessee for 3 years when I was in the Army. Less than 2 weeks!

I hope you were warm enough yesterday! That was a surprise cod snap!
