For Maggie’s 5th birthday, I put together a CD of songs for the party favor.  I totally stole the idea from a wise friend, and I still receive compliments on that CD today. In the original song list, there were a couple songs that were eventually rejected because they had the word “hell” in them.  It wasn’t a big deal to me, but I didn’t want some of Maggie’s friends parents to be upset that I was teaching their children swear words.  At the time, Maggie had suggested that that the Counting Crows cover of Big Yellow Taxi be removed because they said the F word. It stayed because I knew the lyrics of the song and the word is clearly parking.

But lately I’ve been hearing the song around more, and I think she was right. While there are times they are clearly saying parking lot, I don’t think they are all the time.  There are many times in that song when I think I can hear a “fffff” where I should be hearing a “puh.” Or mabye its just me.

Either way, most of the time when I am in the car by myself, I sing it Maggie’s way.
