The last two weekends have been Girl Scout camping weekends. One with Stagg, one with me. Each of us got a weekend alone with each girl. Both girls are convinced the other one got the better end of the deal.
Maggie seems to like camping. Of course, one weekend, she was in a pop up camper and the other weekend she was in a cabin– even spending one night on the top bunk. One weekend, there were even puppies at camp that had been rescued from the side of the road. Combine that with s’mores, canoeing, freedom, friends and her favorite 11 year old girls who were happy to take supervisory roles whenever they were asked… what isn’t to love?
Katie was pleased as punch to be the center of attention. She got to stay up late, pick restaurants for meals, see friends and family without Maggie and generally be in chage. On top of that, she also got to meet 4 puppies that Maggie has never met. Sounds like a 4 year olds dream, doesn’t it?
I think Stagg enjoyed his weekend camping, despite the fact that it wasn’t Boy Scouts. He loves that Maggie is a scout, and is happy to be a part of the camping whenever possible. But he wishes that Girl Scouts was more like Boy Scouts.
I know I liked my weekend. It was fun thinking of Westdale & Blue Bay again. And it was the first time I’ve been canoeing in 20 years. I was surprised to find that I really liked canoeing.
