Supervision

We’ve been watching some of the Olympics with iffy levels of interest from the girls.  Last night, we watched some of the women’s gymnastics, and they found that pretty impressive.  There were still complaints about having to watch a grown up show, but these complaints (mostly from Katie) were interspersed with requests to go back so they could watch some of the most impressive flips and passes.

After a while, I decided it was time to remind them that they were not allowed to attempt to copy these girls when they’re at school or anywhere else.  We talked about how hard these women have worked and how long they’ve trained and how they had to learn the basic things first and then build on their skills until they were able to do the things they can do now.  I finished up by reminding them they couldnt do any of these things until they had he proper training and supervision.  They nodded and said ok.

Then Maggie looked up at me with her finger across her eye.  She said, “Mom, I can see you through my finger. I’ve already got Super Vision.”
