Maggie is loving her Irish dancing. For the most part, she just flails about as she wishes, but she watches the other kids and tries to copy them. The teacher is wonderful and is very pleased, though. She says Maggie will be this way because she is so young (she is about 1.5 – 2 years younger than the rest of the class) and one day everything will come together for her and she’ll just get it. It makes me feel better that she is willing to have her in the class just playing and having fun and she isn’t getting upset that she isn’t doing it “properly.” Maggie finally got her class Tshirt last Monday and she was sooooo excited. She wore it to school the next day to show it off. And, she might need to get the fancy dress so that she can do some little stuff in some of the St. Paddy’s performances they do.
Last week, Maggie got a guitar. She loves, loves, loves it and plays it everyday. I had been bribing her with the promise of a new sleeper if she slept in her bed all night long 4 nights in a row, but when she did it she changed her mind and asked for a pick instead. No problemo, kidlet.
I’m getting ready for preschool registration for next year for Katie. I think that if I can get her in with the teachers Maggie had, I’ll send her 3 days/week. Otherwise, she’ll go 4. My other thing is that I’d rather have her with the older 3s instead of the younger 3s, since she thinks she is 23 already. Damn, I’m picky.
Katie’s new favorite things to say are “Your’re joking” and “Told ya” both of which crack me up because she looks so offended when she says it. She has also learned to say yellow and Lisa, but enjoys saying that Daddy likes her to say yayow and Lisa likes her to call her Seesa.
Katie and Maggie had a conversation at dinner the other night about their respective friends named David. It was funny to listen to because it was very clear that they each knew their David was not the other one’s David, but both thought the other one didn’t understand that. Back and forth, back and forth with more and more details about who they were talking about. It was pretty cool and very funny.
My dad sent Valentine’s Day cards that the girls opened the other day. Katie mocked terror because hers had a bee on it. Then she took great joy in making it fly around and touch Maggie and saying it was stinging her. Maggie opened hers and wanted to know where her dollar was (June sent $1 bills). So, I let her call my dad to ask. She went into this whole story about how George Washington was her favorite president and how it sure would have been nice to see his picture in her card.
