Since school started, Maggie is getting more of a handle on eating what is put in front of her without (as much) complaint. She still asks for something different, still occasionally takes a look at her plate and declares it disgusting, but she seems to be getting a better understanding that the odds are good that a second, alternative dinner isn’t going to appear before her.
She credits this to the phrase they’ve taught her at school, “You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.” Well, unless you’re Mags. Then you say, “You get what you get and you don’t catch a fit.”

We took a trip to the phone store today because my phone was acting up. While we were there, Katie made her usual trip to the employees’ bathroom. She loves it in there. I have no idea why, but she is completely fascinated.
On the way back from “the back,” the tech support person told me my phone was ready and we started talking about it. This meant that I was not there to guide Katie around the counter piece that is at her cheek level– the one that she never sees because she is far too busy looking at all the amazing things behind the counter that she can’t see from the other side. So today, she plowed right into it. Oops. A few minutes of tears, and she is ok, but does have a little boo-boo on her face.
When Stagg came home, she was showing it to him and he asked he how it happened. She looked right at him and without missing a beat told him, “Mommy spanked me.”
