My new niece, who is technically my second cousin, was born Wenesday, November 1 at 5:35am. She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was greeted with open arms.
Ariana hasn’t had an easy time of it, since she was born with Spina Bifida and has already had her first surgery. She came through it with flying colors and is scheduled for her second surgery tomorrow.
Nobody knows what is in store for Ariadne, although the doctors seem to be focusing on what she might not be able to do as she gets older. But so far, she has brought her family together and showed them how much more love and strength they have than they ever knew. She has made some differences that seemed huge be forgotten entirely, and she has brought smiles to the face of everyone who has met her. Not bad for a week’s work.
