Maggie got her stitches out tonight. She really impressed the heck out of me. We talked about her needing to stay still a couple times before we went, and she insisted we practice. And she was such a trooper.
She was clearly nervous (more like terrified, actually) when she laid down on the table, but sucked her thumb, held my hand and stayed really, really still. After he cut the first stitch, he said “ok” or something and she sat up and gave me a big hug. She wasn’t thrilled about the idea of laying down again, but she did it and didn’t move or whimper at all until the last stitch was out. Then she gave me another big hug and that was that.
Katie did very well, too. I was nervous that she would get upset that no one was paying any attention to her, or start checking things out in the room (like the dr’s coat which fascinated her), but she didn’t touch anything. She talked a little and pulled on my jeans a couple times but didn’t interfere at all.
Of course, after we got home, Maggie managed to fall down the stairs to celebrate her stitch free self. She’s ok, though. Just a red mark on the side of her face (the opposite side from the stitches) where she smacked a step.
