Imaginary Monkey

For the past year or so (maybe it hasn’t been quite that long), every time Katie goes in her swing in the backyard, she points to the same tree and says “ah-ah” which her code word for monkey. She seems completely convinced that there is a monkey in the tree. Of course, there isn’t one, which always makes me wonder what she sees.

For a while, I thought it was a particular grouping of brown leaves that has been clinging to a branch for a long, long time. But she says it isn’t. Maggie is desperate to find the monkey that Katie sees, but for her it isn’t there.

So until she sees something different, Katie has her own personal monkey.
